I really enjoyed these books and the characters! A good read to escape the real world. My ONLY problem with the series was the many grammar and spelling issues. I do not know if it is in every format or just my Kindle edition, but I would love to see the mistakes corrected and better proof reading done for this author, as she is a good writer.The grammar/spelling issues are distracting to me, ("they will not brake me" versus the "they will not break me" just one of MANY for example)
Very disappointed in the first story NOT ending in this book ! I would rather pay the price for the whole story than have it just stop and wanting me to buy the end .....you lost me as a fan and the story was good! Just did not like to buy the book with no warning that it doesn't end.I just got an email asking for a review, so this is it,,,,,I don’t like stories that don’t warn of no ending until next books! So didn’t finish all of it.....
Martha Woods has combined two of my favourite things - vampires and forensics - into a fantastic PNR series that will have you frantically carving out time in your day to read more!Amy is a forensic scientist dealing with the latest victim of a rabid serial murderer. Her path crosses with two members of the paranormal community in the course of her investigation and she finds herself drawn into a dark and secret world.Her own abilities become awakened and she struggles to hold on to her sense of normalcy as she slides further and further from it.As if things weren't complicated enough, she's also dealing with two men who want her and an impending war in the paranormal world.Can Amy hold herself together and help save the paranormal world as she falls in love with two mysterious and broken men? Can she tell friend from foe and protect all of those she loves?
The first story was by far the best and it went a few book into the series. The stories to follow progressively got worse and so did the spelling errors. The stories were weak, to rushed, no reasoning for events and some got very muddled. There were points were I couldn't tell who were talking and what was happening. I wouldn't mind continuing with the first story. I believe there are 4 or 5 more books in that series but the rest were bad... I pushed through just to finish it
Okay, lets start with the obvious with these books. New writer, no editing it seems. Even having a friend read it and have a red pen handy would have helped. The story is a good one. I have made it through to the 3rd(?) book so far. It has kept my interest and I hope the editing gets better as she progresses. They are an easy read. The main character is a forensic investigator but the author seems to just have called her that with no background or even any real investigating scenes beside just turning a body over to see wounds. A little more fleshing out of Amy would help. Vincent,the Vampire and Damon, the hunter and Olivia, Vincent's maker round out the main characters at this point. Throw in Amy's over protective boss and a few less than interesting killers and you have the stories so far. I am hoping it gets better because the premise of the story is good. Oh and Amy turns out to be a witch and has been taken under the guidance of Faye to learn about her new found "gift" that makes the vampires like her even more.
Amy's best friend would describe her as cynical. She describes herself as a realist. She doesn't believe we’re programmed for monogamy, at least not for the long run, and real love doesn't exist. Extremely smart and able to hold her own in situations most people fail under yet when she finds herself with a man she finds attractive, she becomes as clumsy as a thirteen year old who can't string together a sentence. She's the one who will trip or knock something over. Amy is a twenty-seven year old forensic scientist working for the LAPD as their chief forensic officer. And right now, they're knee deep in an investigation for a serial killer. She's been to each murder scene without finding a single clue until she sees a man attack a woman at a current murder sight. Maybe. She knew what she saw but no one believes her.Martha Woods has taken this storyline and combined a vampire, werewolf and paranormal hunter into a twisted tale of horror that will keep you intrigued with every page. This one left me with questions as to what happened but as the series continues, I'm hoping more answers will be found.
(Animal harm) May want to avoid if you are sensitive to domestic animals being harmed. Has a good story line and characters, but the first book just jumps into people that will 'do anything' for the main character after only one greeting. Hardly any building of chemistry.
Ms. Woods starts us off on a slow journey of a forensic investigator. When she's caught up in the world of the supernatural, she finds that there really is more to the story than she thought. Wolves, witches, vampire's and hunters. All the stories are true it seems in her world. What happens is she is now in love with two men. I found myself wanting more during these books and can say I will finish this series. It is cleanly written with a a few minor little errors, but nothing that really throws the reader off. I definitely recommend this book set
