I love the story behind the story in this children's book. It is beautiful and subtle and true. One sets out to do one thing like be a warrior but learns through training and experience that being a warrior isn't about fighting but about being strong in yourself so that you do no harm but rather give life and healing to others. I believe in this message and think it is important not only for children but adults as well. What a beautiful world we would live in if we all followed this principle. I have read the author's other book, The Monk and the Yak: Children's Picture Book: Bedtime Story for Kids on Friendship and Trust in Life (Age 4-8) Inspiring Children's Books and found that book to also have a wonderful message about friendship. This author has a gift and a talent to share deep spiritual insights to children in a way that they can grasp.

A man studies to become a great warrior. He trains in fighting and learns from a master. Then he must face and fight three foes. His journey teaches him about kindness, heart, and the value of a life over the strength of a sword. He learns to win a fight without fighting as he chooses peace and goodness over hurting others. Well written, easy to read, a sweet, charming, and touching story that teaches wonderful lessons about life and kindness. Beautifully illustrated, this story has a lot of heart and teaches great values. Wonderful lessons for children and adults as well. I highly recommend it.

Beautifully illustrated with a message for children and adults. My grandchildren and I discussed what we thought would happen next. Each turn of the page was a wonderful surprise. The end gave us even more to talk about. Highly recommended.

A truly inspiring story for children. This story of a warrior facing his enemies is a brilliant way to teach peace. Each encounter ends with a lesson instead of violence. Kids will love the beautiful illustrations that give life to the storyline.

This was a great story! It told of a young warrior who learned life lessons from a great master. He used the skills that he acquired to defeat his enemies but not in the way the readers might think. The Virtues of a Great Warrior, ends with several wonderful morals, which is your favorite?

We'll see if the lesson sinks in. I thought it was well, though simply, presented. I would love to have edited it a bit, as there were some non-standard issues with the writing. But not a big deal--kids wouldn't notice.

I would NOT buy this again. Wanted a nice martial arts type story for my 7 yr old grandson. This didn’t cut the mustard.

Simple story but the message is very powerful. My daughter & I love this book.
