Perhaps I didn't read the fine print of the description closely enough, but...realize that West Texas is on one side of the map and East Texas is on the other. As a result, if you bought two maps and overlapped them to have one for the wall the actual dimensions would be about twice the area. I did buy it to put on the wall but my plan is to use pushpins to track where I've traveled and concentrating on East Texas suits my purpose. I agree it probably would not tolerate a lot of folding and unfolding but it's really big so I'm not sure it would work well for trying to read in the car. And I suppose if you live on the edge of the map, you might be consulting one side, flipping it over as you travel, then back again, etc.

Rand McNally knows how to do maps right and their Pennsylvania map is no exception. This map is a great if you need a road map of Pennsylvania. Half the state is one one side of the map and the rest is on the other side. Of course, this can be a pain if you are visiting areas that are right in the division area. The map is old style. It's a huge fold out map that is bulky when opened in full. Of course, those are downsides of any large folded paper map. There are detailed maps of several large Pennsylvania cities which are helpful but would not give a great deal of detail if driving in those cities. We all know how large paper maps can be hard to fold back and that they often wear quickly when used but that is the fun of old style road maps. The RAND MCNALLY PENNSYLVANIA map is an excellent choice if you need a large picture of the beautiful state of Pennsylvania--where cities are located and distances. Many points of interest are shown on the map that are outside the major cities and are more isolated, such as Frank Lloyd Wright's famous FALLINGWATER.This is an excellent map to get you from city to city in Pennsylvania. A more detailed map would be needed for specific cities but here is a great overview of Pennsylvania.

Think of the gas station maps of your youth. Not enough detail. Torn in the first usage. Still an analog product that helped visualize the trip I planned.

During the recent hurricane evacuation I had to go through the Texas hill country to get to my destination. It was dark and rainy and I lost my GPS and cell phone service about two hours from location. The road signs for my destination were non-existent. Was very frustrating not knowing if I was on the right road in the right direction. I thought to myself, " Sure would be nice to have a road map!" Well now I have one. Got one for the wife also. I got lucky while going through a small town and seeing a small sign at a four way stop with arrow pointing left to my destination. Something to put on your evacuation list for sure.

The description says this map is from 2010. It is actually from 2006. There is an entire freeway exchange in Bastrop that is not on the map. It also falls apart at the creases after one use. It is a little easier to read but not all roads are clearly marked and it is five years out of date. A lot can happen in five years. I contacted Rand McNally and they confirmed that the map is from 2006. I returned the map to Amazon with no trouble.

I realize we all have GPS and map apps on our phones and in dash systems in our cars, but sometimes you just need a real map. This one isn't perfect, there are several small roads in East Texas that are missing, but for the bigger picture, this map works fine. It's a faster way to find an alternate route or a scenic route if you're driving across Texas....you can see exactly where you are and where the roads go in one step.

I am a roadmap collector and recently bought the RandMcNally maps for all 50 states, plus a US Interstate map. I like the large scale used and helps considering my vision is less than ideal. I also use these maps to supplement the official maps that I also have for the entire country
